Barn Dance

(1975) Light pink shrub. The ovoid, pointed buds open to double (20-25 petals), shallow-cupped, 3-4 inch blooms of neyron rose (RHSCC 55B) to pale carmine (RHSCC 52D) over yellow ground, giving the effect of salmon to shrimp pink. The blooms are borne in clusters of 5-15 and have a light, wild rose fragrance. The abundant, leathery, medium-sized foliage is pale green aging to dark green. The thorns are green and awl-like. The bushy, 3 X 3 ft plant is shrub-like and blooms very freely in June and at intervals until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.

(1984) (BUCblu) (Plant Patent) Mauve hybrid tea. Upright, bushy growth to 90 cm. Full petals, Large blooms; fragrant. Large semi-glossy foliage. Color is Lobelia blue -- blue tones accentuates as flower ages. the plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.

 

Bright Melody

(1984) Medium red shrub. The ovoid-pointed ruby red (RHSCC 61B) open to double (25-35 petals), shallow-cupped, 4-4.5 inch blooms that lighten to dark rose bengal (RHSCC 61C) as they age. The blooms are borne in clusters of 1-20 and have a light sweet fragrance. The abundant, medium-large, leathery foliage is dark olive green. The thorns are tan and awl-like. The erect, bushy plant is free-branching and blooms freely from June until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.

 

Brook Song

(1985) Medium yellow shrub. the large, long-pointed, ovoid deep lemon yellow (RHSCC 14A) buds with Saturn red (RHSCC 30B) on the reverse and open to double (35-45 petals), imbricated, open, 4.5-5 inch blooms of chrome yellow (RHSCC 14D) which age to amber yellow (RHSCC 18C). The blooms are borne in clusters of 1-8 and have a pleasant, sweet fragrance. The abundant, leathery foliage is dark green (RHSCC 139A) and has good field tolerance to foliar disease. The thorns are tan and awl-like. The erect, bushy, 3.5 ft plant is in continuous bloom from June until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.

The long pointed, ovoid buds of Guardsman red (RHSCC 45A) open to semi-double (12-18 petals), cupped, 3.5-4 inch blooms of post office red (RHSCC 45B) which age to rose bengal (RHSCC 57D) and open flat. The blooms are borne in clusters of 3-5 and have a pleasant, sweet scent. The leathery, medium-glossy foliage is arras green (RHSCC 129A) and had good field tolerance to foliar disease. The thorns are brown and awl-like. The upright, vigorous plant is bushy and blooms freely from June until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
